National Alliance on Mental Illness Southern New Mexico

Offering help: Inspiring hope

Our evidence-based education programs ensure families, individuals, providers, and educators get the support and information they need. We also work with legislators and judiciary to educate and reduce stigma regarding mental illness.

We provide provides grassroots volunteer leaders with the tools, resources and skills necessary to support mental health in all of our diverse communities. We also meet and work with state and local governments to improve services to people with mental health conditions and their families.

Our support groups offer insight for both family members and those living with mental illness talking about the challenges and successes of others. All groups are led by NAMI-trained facilitators who’ve been there.

Public awareness events and activities, including Mental Illness Awareness Week (MIAW), NAMIWalks and other efforts, successfully combat stigma and encourage understanding. NAMI works with reporters on a daily basis to make sure our country understands how important mental health is..
